Stephen counts it a privilege to serve as the pastor of Christ Church, the community church of Virginia Water and beyond. He and his wife Joanna have been in Christian ministry together for 38 years. He is passionate about introducing people to a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and helping them discover their purpose in life, to know Jesus and make Jesus known.
Originally from Lowestoft in Suffolk, he has served in the Church of England in St Leonard’s on Sea in Sussex and in Guildford, Surrey before being called to Virginia Water in 1997.
Although his main focus is pastoring the church family in Virginia Water, Stephen is also a trustee of Biblica Europe Ministries Trust, who sponsored and publish the New International Version (NIV), the most widely read Bible translation in English.
Stephen has also served as an external examiner for post-graduate degrees (MPhil and PhD) awarded by the University of Wales and the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS) as well as Tyndale-Carey Graduate School, Bible College of New Zealand.
He is the author of three books, In the Footsteps of Jesus and the Apostles, (Eagle, 2004) Christian Zionism: Roadmap to Armageddon (IVP, 2004) and Zion’s Christian Soldiers: The Bible, Israel and the Church (IVP, 2007).
For several weeks of the year, when invited, Stephen works with churches and NGOs in countries where Christianity is a minority faith, or Christians suffer discrimination or persecution. He is passionate about justice, peace and reconciliation.
In his spare time, Stephen is also a photo journalist, TV producer and writer. He is presently having a short sabbatical from using social media and travelling to the Middle East.
