Francis Blight

Francis has been the Curate at Christ Church since June 2008. He grew up in Windsor and went to Scaitcliffe School in Englefield Green (now Bishopsgate School).  After university, in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, he moved to London where he worked in the music industry for the MCPS (now PRS for Music).  He joined The Holy Redeemer Church, Streatham Vale where he led the 11-14s youth work and took a year out from his job to train for Christian Ministry on the PT Cornhill Training Course.  This led him to join the staff team at Church on the Corner, a new Anglican church in Islington, where he worked for five years.  Francis went on to study theology at Oak Hill College and was ordained in 2008.

Francis is a singer-songwriter and music fan.  You can listen to some of his recordings on iTunes.  He has been a leader on CYFA Ventures for many years, and is part of a team that is launching the new Woolverhampton 4 Pathfinder Venture this summer.  Francis is passionate about people discovering Jesus Christ and organises an annual team to partner with Carey Baptist Church in their outreach to the Reading Music Fesitval.  Francis is married to Georgina and the have three children, Tom, Sam and Zoë.

Francis' is being trained as an ordained leader in the Church of England and therefore shares in the spiritual, pastoral, educational and administrative responsibilities of the parish.  He regularly preaches and leads at Sunday services.  With Stephen he is responsible for the pastoral care of the church family and wider parish.  He is involved in home group ministry and leads regular training courses.  He takes baptisms, weddings and funerals and leads services at Sunrise Senior Living and Merlewood Nursing Home.  He is part of the team that lead assemblies in the parish primary schools.  Francis has completed three years of his curacy and is now in the process of looking for his next post.
