As part of the global church we are called to care not just for God’s creation, but for our brothers and sisters all over the world who face having their families uprooted and their livelihoods destroyed the effects of climate change.

The Church of England has adopted this challenge and set ambitious targets and put in place plans to achieve it. In February 2020, General Synod voted to set a target for the whole Church of England of achieving ‘net-zero’ carbon by 2030. In July 2022 they approved a routemap after completing studies to understand the solutions, costs and challenges to meet the target. Our Diocese is also supporting this goal.
We have an Eco team and are proud that Christ Church has achieved a Silver EcoChurch award, however there is more to do. We are keen for members of our church and community to join us in caring for the natural world and our global neighbours.
